Maxime’s New York
Maxime’s is a new private members’ club on Madison Avenue, on the Upper East Side, housed within the historic former Westbury Hotel at the corner of East 69th Street. Opened in March 2025, it’s designed as an “Upper East Side home from home” rather than a scene-led venue – a place where members treat it as their city house for eating, drinking and entertaining in private.
Inside, the aesthetic is polished townhouse rather than corporate: layered décor, art, soft lighting and multiple dining rooms and bars spread across several floors instead of one big hall. The philosophy, as described in internal materials, is a private house where members are looked after with warmth and personality but also very high professional standards, with particular attention paid to food, wine and overall ambience.
What to expect
Day to day, Maxime’s is organised around four distinct restaurant concepts under one roof: a flagship French-Mediterranean fine-dining room; a Latin American restaurant; a Japanese counter focused on sushi and small plates; and the Zodiac Lounge & Bar, which serves elevated versions of classic American bar food.
Expect a carefully managed, etiquette-led environment. Reception controls guest lists and sign-ins, dress standards are actively enforced, and members are greeted by name and guided to the right room for their booking. Club rules emphasise comfort, discretion and calm. It’s very much a dining- and conversation-driven club, but the bars run late, so there is scope for a “big night” without ever leaving the building.
